It's the final week of the regular season and the region standings have been set for the most part, so most teams are just getting in another game before the state playoffs kickoff next week.

Pickens County @ Gordo

It's not a region game. It has no playoff implications, but it's one of the best rivalries in Alabama high school football. It's always a titanic match-up when the Green Wave and Tornadoes face off, and tonight's game is no different.

They'll do battle on Thursday night, with Gordo's perfect season on the line (9-0). The Tornadoes would love nothing more than to play the role of spoiler against their longtime Pickens County rival, who come in with a 7-2 record and a second place finish in Region 4 of the 2A classification.

If you enjoy intense, passionate, and high quality high school football, you need to get out to Gordo High School tonight.

Demopolis @ Auburn

This game isn't going to be played in West Alabama, but the Tigers of Demopolis will try to flex their muscles as they travel across the state to take on the Auburn Tigers.

Demopolis (8-1, 7-0) are the region champs in 5A Region 4 and come in as the #7 team in 5A. The Auburn Tigers have only won five games this season, but they are a really good football team, and come in as the #12 team in 7A, according to the Alabama Sports Writers Association.

Parker @ Central-Tuscaloosa

Another Thursday match-up pits the Parker Thundering Herd against the Central-Tuscaloosa Falcons.

Parker (6-3) found a way to make it to the state playoffs with a 4-3 record in Region 5 play of 5A, finishing fourth in the region. They'll be looking for some momentum heading into the playoffs, and one way to do that is with a big win over the Falcons.

However, the Falcons are wishing they were looking at doing the same. They just missed out in clinching a spot in the playoffs, coming in at 4-5 and 3-4 in Region 4 play. While there isn't a postseason to play for, they can play to get a jump start on next season.
