The growth Tuscaloosa has experienced over the last five years has been pretty incredible. From residential to retail, the city continues to change and expand each year.

While some of that growth can bring disruption and congestion, there's one area that most people can agree has been a big positive: restaurants. Tuscaloosa's underrated food scene continues grow in variety and quality, which makes the region more attractive to visitors and potential residents.

The second half of 2015 will only add to the list of restaurants in Tuscaloosa as six new businesses are set to open before the end of the year. As you'll see in the list, two of them have a history in the city while the others are moving in for the first time.

  • Milo's

    Opening this summer

The central Alabama burger chain had a location for years on McFarland Blvd, but it was destroyed during the April 27, 2011 tornado. Four years later, the restaurant is set to open at the intersection of Skyland Blvd and Hwy 69. There isn't a firm date, but based on construction, it looks like a June or July opening is expected.

  • Chuck E. Cheese

Opening could be late summer/early fall

Tuscaloosa residents will also be excited to know that the kid-friendly pizza and arcade chain will make its return this year. The original location was also destroyed by the April 27, 2011 tornado and many families have been hoping it would reopen.

Well, it's coming soon! And the new location won't be too far from the old Wood Square Shopping Center. Construction has started in Midtown Village next to Az Well and across from Brother's Express Pizza. If you look at this map of Midtown, the location is between #508 and #512.
