A trio of Alabama women's golfers were named Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) First Team All-Americans Tuesday morning.

Sophomore Kristen Gillman and juniors Cheyenne Knight and Lauren Stephenson all earned the honor, giving the Crimson Tide the most honorees in 2018 and a quarter of the 12-woman team.

All three women finished in the top-10 during the stroke play portion of this week’s NCAA Championships being held in Stillwater, Okla., marking the first time Alabama has had three players finish in the top-10 at the event. Knight finished fourth, while Stephenson and Gillman tied for seventh place. The Crimson Tide is currently in the quarterfinals of match play.

With the honor, Knight becomes the second UA player to earn three First Team WGCA All-America accolades in a career, joining Stephanie Meadow (2011, 13, 14). Overall, eight Alabama golfers have earned 14 first-team honors, with at least one Crimson Tide golfer making the list each of the last eight years.

Heading into the NCAA Championships, Stephenson was the nation's No. 3 golfer in the Golfstat player rankings released May 9. Stephenson was joined in the top 20 by Gillman (6th) and Knight (19th). Stephenson (second), Gillman (seventh) and Knight (17th) were also among the leaders in the Golfweek player rankings that were released May 10.

Gillman earned First Team WGCA All-America honors in 2017 and will play as a member of the United States squad in this summer’s Curtis and Palmer Cups. The 2017 SEC Golfer of the Year, Knight earned WGCA All-America honors in 2016 and 2017. Stephenson, also playing in this summer’s Curtis and Palmer Cups for Team USA, earned Second Team WGCA All-America recognition in 2017.

The 2018 NCAA Tallahassee Regional Champions, Alabama is looking for its second NCAA Championship since winning its first in 2012.
