Bass fishermen from across the Southeast will return to Lake Eufaula Saturday, June 11, for the Alabama Children’s Classic Bass Tournament.

Proceeds from the tournament will benefit Children’s of Alabama, the state’s only freestanding pediatric hospital.

A press release from Children's of Alabama read,

Last year, families in the Wiregrass region made more than 9,700 visits to Children’s – including 650 visits from Barbour County – for a variety of injuries and illnesses.

The early entry fee is $120 per team or boat; $145 on the day of the tournament. Online registration is now open at alabamachildrensclassic.org.

The Lakepoint Marina Store/Grill will open for breakfast at 4 a.m., June 11, followed by tournament blast-off at first safe light from the Lakepoint Marina main ramp off U.S. 431 North (104 Old Highway 165, Eufaula). Weigh-in is set for 1 p.m.

Tournament winnings include more than a dozen cash prices for first through fifteenth place, as well as smallest legal fish and biggest fish. Last year’s first-place winners, Jack Tibbs and Skip Jackson, brought in five fish for a gross weight of 19.49 pounds. The biggest fish award went to Billy Darby and George Alexander for a 5.83-pound bass.
