The Alabama coaching staff selected 10 players of the week following the Crimson Tide’s 31-24 Southeastern Conference road win at Mississippi State last Saturday. Jalen Hurts, Josh Jacobs, Calvin Ridley and Jonah Williams on offense, Anthony Averett, Ronnie Harrison, Anfernee Jennings and Quinnen Williams on defense, and Keaton Anderson and Deionte Thompson on special teams were each recognized for their performance.

Hurts accounted for 282 yards of total offense with 242 yards through the air and 40 on the ground. The sophomore quarterback was responsible for two touchdowns against the Bulldogs, including one on the ground and the 26-yard touchdown pass to freshman wideout DeVonta Smith with 25 seconds remaining to secure the victory. Ridley, a junior, led the Tide receivers with 171 yards on five receptions, four of which went for a first down. Jacobs rushed for 36 yards and a touchdown on six carries, and the sophomore tailback also assisted in the passing game, recording two catches for 18 yards. Williams paced the offensive line, grading out at a team-high 90 percent in 60 snaps from the left tackle position with the sophomore not allowing a sack or pressure all evening.

Defensively, Harrison contributed seven tackles, including four solo stops, to rank the junior defensive back fourth on the Tide. Jennings, a sophomore, added six stops and a quarterback hurry, while consistently pushing the pocket all evening. Adding to the pressure up front was Williams, who earned his first honor of the season from the coaches. The freshman was a force up front, making four tackles, including one for loss (-1 yard), and added a quarterback hurry. Averett finished with five tackles on the night and the redshirt senior paced all defensive backs with two pass breakups from his starting corner spot.

The pairing of sophomores Anderson and Thompson helped limit the Bulldogs return game to earn the recognition from the Tide coaches. Anderson continued his steady play on special teams, finishing with one stop on return coverage to assist in holding the Bulldogs to zero punt return yards in the game.
