Alabama Coaching Staff Recognizes 11 Players of the Week for Football

The Alabama coaching staff recognized 11 players following the Crimson Tide’s 49-30 victory in Fayetteville over Arkansas last Saturday. Bradley Bozeman, Jalen Hurts, Cam Robinson and Jonah Williams on offense, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Shaun Dion Hamilton and Tim Williams on defense, and Rashaan Evans, Adam Griffith, Hootie Jones and JK Scott on special teams were recognized on Monday.

Hurts accounted for 273 yards of total offense and four touchdowns, finishing 13-of-17 for 253 yards through the air, while posting a career-best 228.54 passer efficiency on the road in a hostile environment. The offensive line trio of Bozeman, Robinson, and Williams helped provide time for the offense to develop and did not allow a quarterback hurry or a sack. Bozeman anchored the line, making all the calls from the center position, while Robinson and Williams posted grades of 88 percent and 86 percent, respectively, from both tackle positions. The offensive line helped clear a path for 264 yards on the ground and three rushing touchdowns, including 122 yards from Damien Harris.

The defensive unit, led by Fitzpatrick, Hamilton and Williams, was key to the Tide defense forcing a season-high five turnovers. Fitzpatrick tied the Alabama single-game school record with three interceptions while also making five tackles and breaking up two passes. He set the Crimson Tide record for the longest interception return in program history, taking his third pick back 100 yards for a score to ensure the victory. Hamilton led the Crimson Tide with a game-high tying nine total tackles, while recording a sack and a forced fumble. Williams scored a defensive touchdown, recovering an Austin Allen fumble and returning it 23 yards for a score. The senior linebacker also recorded a sack, a pair of quarterback hurries and broke up one pass.

Evans and Jones helped limit Arkansas to zero punt return yards and only 87 yards on kickoffs. Scott consistently flipped the field, punting four times for 206 yards for an average of 51.5 yards per punt. The 51.5 yards per punt was his single-game high for 2016 thanks to a season-long 63-yard boot as part of his two kicks of 50-plus yards on the night.
