Alabama Football’s Levi Wallace Named SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week

Alabama senior defensive back Levi Wallace has been named Southeastern Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday morning. Wallace was honored for his performance in the Crimson Tide’s 45-7 win over Tennessee this past weekend. The selection is the second conference defensive player of the week honor of his career.

Wallace helped key another strong defensive performance for the Crimson Tide in the victory over Tennessee. The Tucson, Ariz., native finished with six tackles, including four solo stops, as the Tide held the Volunteers to just 108 total yards and no offensive points. Wallace also notched the first two sacks of his career (-18 yards) and a career-high three tackles for loss (-19) in addition to a quarterback hurry as UA limited the Vols to just 44 yards passing.

A former walk-on, Wallace was previously honored by the SEC following his performance against Ole Miss on Sept. 30. Wallace intercepted two Rebel passes, returning one 35 yards for the first touchdown of his career as Alabama cruised to a 66-3 victory.
