The Alabama Crimson Tide Men's Basketball team are putting the final touches on their 2017-18 season by adding another non-conference opponent to their schedule.

Going into his third season, Avery Johnson is buckling up on the competition outside of the SEC as the Crimson Tide will host UT-Arlington Mavericks on November 21 at Coleman Coliseum.

Last season, the Mavericks finished the season at 27-9 were regular season champions in the Sun Belt before losing in the NIT quarterfinals to Cal State Bakersfield 80-76.

The Mavericks return two major starters on their roster including senior forward Kevin Hervey, who won Sun Belt Player of the Year averaging 17.1 points and 8.5 rebounds per game last season. Guard Erick Neal also returns for his senior season for the Mavericks. Neal averaged 10.6 points and 6.6 assist per game and was named a second team all-Sun Belt Conference.

The Crimson Tide's 2017-18 season has not been finalized but their non-conference games include: Arizona, Oklahoma, Texas, Minnesota, BYU, and Memphis.

With a tough non-conference schedule and tough road games against Florida, Kentucky, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt, the Crimson Tide has the opportunity to build a stronger resume going into the NCAA Tournament and Avery Johnson has the chance to book his first ticket to the big dance.
