The Alabama men’s golf team will host the 12th annual Crimson Tide Open on Friday, Oct. 21, head coach Jay Seawell announced. The event, which honors former Alabama head men’s golf coach Conrad Rehling, will be held at the newly-renovated Jerry Pate Golf Center on the Ol’ Colony Golf Complex.

“The Crimson Tide Open is a great way for our golf family to get together and share memories of their time at the Capstone,” Seawell said. “It is also a way for us to remember Coach Rehling while helping us establish an endowed scholarship in his name.”

The Crimson Tide Open has raised over $125,000 in an endowed scholarship as a tribute in former Alabama golf coach Conrad Rehling’s name. Rehling, who coached the Tide from 1972 to 1988, won SEC Coach of the Year twice (1979 and 1983) and led the Crimson Tide to its first SEC Championship in 1979, while moving Alabama golf into the national landscape. Rehling was inducted into the Golf Coaches Association of America Hall of Fame in 1980.

This year’s Crimson Tide Open will begin with a barbecue lunch at the complex. The format of the event is a four-man scramble which will begin with a shotgun start at noon CT. There will be an awards ceremony and a cocktail party at the Jerry Pate Golf Center following the competition. The cost to participate in the Crimson Tide Open is $325 for an individual or $1,300 for a four-man team.

“This event is something that our coaches and student-athletes look forward to hosting,” Seawell said. “It gives our student-athletes the chance to meet former players and supporters of the Alabama Golf program. It has grown every year we’ve held it and I fully expect slots to fill up fast again this year.”

This year’s grand prize is a two-night trip to Phoenix, Ariz., to the PING headquarters for 36 holes of golf and custom golf clubs. The trip includes airfare and hotel for two people.

Other prizes include golf clubs, Alabama golf gear, golf trips, Alabama football and basketball tickets and much more.
