Alabama Offensive Line Named to the Joe Moore Award Mid-Season Honor Roll

The Alabama offensive line was selected as one of 21 Mid-Season Honor Roll honorees for the Joe Moore Award, the Joe Moore Foundation for Teamwork announced Monday. The Joe Moore award is presented annually to the nation’s top offensive line unit.

The Crimson Tide offensive line, led by assistant coach Brent Key, has been a steady force throughout the season and has played its best football as of late. The front five have provided protection for a balanced attack that ranks atop the SEC in both scoring offense and total offense. The unit has excelled specifically in the run game, as the Tide ranks atop the league in rushing offense, averaging 301.7 yards per game on the ground. The Alabama line has also dominated the line of scrimmage, helping UA rank among the top-25 nationally in time of possession (32:46).

The Joe Moore Award is named after Joe Moore, widely regarded as one of the best offensive line coaches in college football history, and is the only major college football award to honor a unit. The Joe Moore Award Mid-Season Honor Roll includes units that display a high level of toughness, effort, teamwork, consistency, technique, and “finishing”.

Semifinalists for the award will be announced on Nov. 21 with the finalists being selected a week later on Nov. 28. The eventual winner will be announced on Dec. 8

Alabama collected the very first Joe Moore Award following the Crimson Tide’s national championship season in 2015 and was a finalist for the award last season.
