A week after placing 10 teams in the top 25 for the first time ever, the Southeastern Conference took a step backwards. 

Tennessee, Mississippi State, and Arkansas all dropped out of the poll following losses in week two. Auburn, which pulled out an overtime win over FCS Jacksonville State, dropped 12 spots to No. 18.
