Alabama Softball Announces 2019 Schedule

The 2019 Alabama softball schedule is set, featuring two home tournaments and Southeastern Conference series against Missouri, Mississippi State, Georgia and Kentucky at Rhoads Stadium.

Season tickets are available at RollTide.com or by calling the ticket office at (205) 348-BAMA. The renewal deadline for season tickets is Nov. 21 and tickets will be shipped in early February. Single game tickets go on sale Feb. 5.

“Our fans give us the best home-field advantage in college softball,” UA head coach Patrick Murphy said. “They are knowledgeable, passionate and pack Rhoads Stadium whether it’s a midweek game or a big conference series. They make a big difference for us.”

The regular-season schedule features 27 games at Rhoads Stadium, including out-of-conference matchups against Minnesota, South Alabama, UAB, Saint Francis, Missouri State, ULM, Michigan State, Southern Miss, Mississippi Valley State, Georgia Tech and Georgia State.

The Crimson Tide will also play a neutral-site contest in Cullman, Ala., against Belmont on Wednesday, April 24. Ticket information will be announced at a later date.

“We are looking forward to a challenging schedule both on the road and at Rhoads Stadium,” Murphy said. “Opening the season at Troy allows our fans in the southeast corner of the state to see us for three days and we’re excited to head to Arizona the week after that and play in the newly-renovated Hillenbrand Memorial Stadium. Our two home tournaments and a week in Hawaii during spring break rounds out what should be a challenging non-conference slate to prepare us for conference play.”

Fourteen teams on the 2019 slate qualified for last year’s NCAA Tournament, including seven Super Regional teams and a pair of Women’s College World Series participants in Florida and Georgia.

Home SEC series include Missouri (March 8-10), Mississippi State (March 29-31), Georgia (April 13-15) and Kentucky (April 26-28), while road weekends include Texas A&M (March 22-24), South Carolina (April 5-7), Florida (April 19-21) and LSU (May 3-5). Game times for SEC contests will be finalized along with the TV schedule closer to the start of the season.

“Having all 13 SEC teams play in last year’s NCAA Tournament is a built-in advantage for us,” Murphy said. “Each of the eight conference weekends will be a heavyweight battle.”

Alabama’s season begins at the Troy Tournament, Feb. 8-10.  There, the Crimson Tide will face off against Maryland, Troy and Murray State. The following weekend, the Tide travels to Tucson, Ariz. for the Hillenbrand Invitational Feb. 15-17 facing USF, New Mexico, Cal State Fullerton, Arizona and UIC.

In week three, Alabama makes its home debut hosting the Easton Bama Bash at Rhoads Stadium Feb. 22-24. The Tide will play five games over three days, facing Missouri State, Minnesota and ULM. The Crimson Tide then takes on UAB in Birmingham on Wednesday, Feb. 27, before returning home to host the Easton Crimson Classic, March 1-3. Alabama will play Michigan State, Southern Miss and Saint Francis over the course of the first weekend in March.

The Crimson Tide will then have two midweek matchups at Rhoads Stadium, hosting South Alabama March 5 at 5 p.m. CT and Mississippi Valley State March 6 at 6 p.m. CT. Alabama opens conference play the following weekend, as the Missouri Tigers head to Tuscaloosa for a three-game series March 8–10.

The Tide’s conference bye week will be spent in Honolulu, Hawaii, at the Rainbow Wahine Classic. Alabama will play six games over four days against SIUE, Niagara and Hawaii starting Wednesday, March 13.

Following its week in Hawaii, the Crimson Tide resumes SEC play with a three-game road series in College Station, Texas against Texas A&M March 22-24. Alabama will return home to play Georgia Tech Wednesday, March 27 before hosting Mississippi State March 29-31. A fifth-straight game at Rhoads Stadium caps the homestand Wednesday, April 3 against UAB.

Alabama hits the halfway point of its conference schedule the following weekend in Columbia, S.C., with a three-game road series against South Carolina April 5-7. The Crimson Tide returns home to take on Georgia State in a midweek matchup on April 13 before a weekend series in Tuscaloosa against Georgia begins Saturday, April 13.

Alabama then heads to Gainesville, Fla. to take on the Florida Gators April 19-21. Taking a break from conference play, Alabama plays a neutral-site contest in Cullman, Ala. against Belmont April 24 at 6 p.m. CT.

The Tide’s final home series of the regular season will be against Kentucky April 26-28 before concluding its regular-season schedule in Baton Rouge, La., against LSU May 3-5.

Teams will begin postseason play in College Station, Texas at the 2019 SEC Tournament, with opening-round games starting May 8 and culminating in the SEC Tournament Championship May 11. Every game of the tournament will be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks.

Following the SEC Tournament, the NCAA Tournament Selection Show will take place May 12 where 64 teams will be placed among 16 nationally-seeded host sites. NCAA Regional play will take place from May 17-19 and the 16 regional winners will advance to the Super Regional round May 23-26. The eight winners will head to the 2019 Women’s College World Series at the USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City where the National Champion will be crowned on June 5.
