Alabama sophomore Bailey Hemphill earned Second Team Academic All-America distinction, it was announced Monday by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The award is the first of Hemphill’s career and the 24th in program history. Alabama has had at least one CoSIDA Academic All-American every year since 2008.

The Lafayette, La., native is a human development major with a 4.0 grade point average and is a Dean’s List and three-time President’s List honoree. This season, she led the team with 13 home runs, 48 RBIs and 40 walks, hitting 41-for-123 (.333) with 26 runs scored. She had 13 games with multiple RBIs, the most on the team, and was top-10 in the SEC in slugging percentage, walks, on-base percentage and home runs.
