Thirteen members of the Alabama track & field program have been named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s (USTFCCCA) 2017 All-Academic list for their performance on the track and in the classroom this past season.

Men’s honorees include 2017 seniors Klyvens Delaunay (3.66/Graduate Studies), Jacopo Lahbi (3.31/Management), McLean Lipschutz (3.39/Physical Education), Hayden Reed (3.34/Geography), junior Conner Thompson (3.64/Mechanical Engineering) and sophomore Josh Short (4.00/Political Science). Women’s selections are 2017 seniors Quanesha Burks (3.32/Elementary Education), Alex Gholston (3.97/English) and Hannah Waggoner (3.63/Mechanical Engineering), juniors Danielle McConnell (3.90/General Studies) and Haley Teel (3.46/Marketing) and freshmen Hannah Capek (4.00/Mechanical Engineering) and Samantha Zelden (4.00/Exercise Science).

To qualify for USTFCCCA honors, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 with an indoor season rank among the top 96 in an individual event or top 48 in a relay or have participated in either the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships or NCAA East or West regionals.

In addition to the individual honors, the Crimson Tide women’s program was among the 218 women’s teams named to the association’s All-Academic team list. The Tide women posted a team GPA of 3.37 during the 2016-17 academic year. The Tide women have now earned USTFCCCA academic team honors in all six seasons of head coach Dan Waters’ tenure at Alabama.
