Alabama Volleyball’s Krystal Rivers Named AVCA All-South Region

Alabama senior Krystal Rivers can add another accolade to her growing list, earning All-South Region honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association, the organization announced Tuesday.

Rivers has the most regional honors for any Crimson Tide player in program history, earning a spot on the postseason list in each of her four seasons at The Capstone. She is the only four-time winner among the 14 South Region honorees and is one of just six four-time winners among all regions, joining Kadie Rolfzen (Nebraska – North Region), Lauren Carlini (Wisconsin – Northeast Region), Inky Ajanaku (Stanford – Pacific North Region), Alex Holston (Florida – Southeast Region) and Carly Kan (Missouri – Southeast Region).

This year, Rivers was named the SEC Player of the Year, leading the league in kills (705) and points (803.5). She ended her Alabama career as the program’s all-time leader in kills, moving into first place in the final week of the regular season before finishing with 2,148. She also is the career leader in points (2,506.0) and ranks among the top five in seven other categories.

The All-South Region distinction puts Rivers in contention to earn AVCA All-America honors, which will be voted on and announced towards the conclusion of the NCAA tournament.
