The Alabama women's basketball team is making its third straight trip to the Women’s National Invitation Tournament under head coach Kristy Curry and will host Southern in Wednesday’s first round matchup. Tip is set for 7 p.m. CT in Coleman Coliseum.

General admission tickets are currently on sale for $5 on RollTide.com, while student admission is free with an Action Card. The ticket office, located at the north entrance of Coleman Coliseum, will be open 90 minutes prior to tip on Wednesday.

“We are excited about having the opportunity to compete for a WNIT championship and to continue to play,” said Curry. “This team has played some of its best basketball as of late and has been working relentlessly since returning from the SEC tournament.”

The Crimson Tide (17-13) is one of 32 automatic qualifiers in the field of 64. The Jaguars (17-13), who earned the automatic bid for the Southwestern Athletic Conference, captured the SWAC regular season title but were edged out by Grambling State in the tournament championship game, 72-68.

Alabama and Southern will be meeting for the fourth time in series history on Wednesday. The Tide owns a 3-0 advantage, picking up wins against the Jags in 1985, 1989 and 2005.

The appearance will be Alabama’s seventh overall in the WNIT. The Tide also competed in the tournament in 2000-02, 2011 and 2016-17. UA holds an overall record of 8-6 in WNIT games after advancing to last season’s quarterfinals.

First-round action begins Wednesday, March 14 and continues through Friday, March 16. Round of 32 games take place March 17-20; Round of 16 games are March 21-23, quarterfinals run March 24-26, and the semifinals are set for March 28-29. The championship game will be held at 2 p.m. CT on March 31, and televised on CBS Sports Network. All games are hosted by participating schools.
