Alabama sophomore Breanna Hayden will serve a two-game suspension for her role in a fight during Thursday night's game against Auburn.

With 1:14 left in the first half and Alabama leading 28-15, Hayden punched Auburn's Hasina Muhammad in the face after the two players got tangled up after a free throw. Muhammad chased down Hayden and threw her own punch near Alabama's bench.

Per NCAA rules, a player must be suspended one game when issued a flagrant 2 foul for fighting. Coach Kristy Curry opted to a second game to the suspension, which the Southeastern Conference accepted.

“Last night’s incident was unfortunate, and we never want to see something like that occur,” Curry said. “That was unacceptable behavior that will not be tolerated, which is why I recommended the additional game suspension. BreBre (Hayden) realized immediately she made a mistake, has apologized to everyone and will learn from this.”

Muhammad will also serve a two-game suspension, with Auburn adding the second game.

Both players were ejected from the game, following a 20-minute review from officials. A third player, Alabama freshman Meoshonti Knight, was also ejected after receiving a flagrant 2 for leaving the bench but will not miss any additional time.

Alabama won the game, 51-50, at Foster Auditorium to pick up its first win in conference play this season.
