University of Alabama women’s golfer Cheyenne Knight officially announced on Tuesday that she will forego her final season of collegiate eligibility and begin her professional golf career.

Knight will make her pro debut at the Symetra Tour’s Four Winds Invitational, June 8-10, in South Bend, Ind.

“My time at Alabama has been nothing short of life-changing,” Knight said. “I have grown so much as a player and a person. I would like to thank my coaches, Mic (Potter) and Susan (Rosenstiel), and my teammates for pushing me every day. Roll Tide!”

In the final tournament of her Alabama career, the Aledo, Texas, native finished fourth in stroke play at the NCAA Women’s Golf Championships with a 5-under par 283 (70-69-70-74). Knight then went 3-0 in the match play portion of the Championships to lead the Tide to its first top-two finish at the NCAA tournament since the program’s 2012 national title.

“Cheyenne is pretty highly-decorated and she’s done a lot in college golf,” Alabama head coach Mic Potter said. “She was a three-time All-American, Freshman of the Year, has really been a stalwart for us and is largely responsible for us being where we are right now. She’s been a great teammate here and we definitely wish her the best going forward.”

A three-time All-American and All-Southeastern Conference selection in her three seasons in Tuscaloosa, Knight was the Women’s Golf Coaches Association Freshman of the Year in 2015-16 and the SEC Player of the Year as a sophomore in 2016-17. She had four career tournament victories with the Tide, including the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic this past season, and ended her UA tenure with a 71.54 scoring average, which ranks No. 3 in school history.
