In less than three weeks, Alabama resumes their quest for their 17th national championship with a New Year’s Day clash against Clemson in the Sugar Bowl.

Prior to the game, another important date lies ahead in the college football calendar. College football’s early signing period begins December 20 and will run through December 23.

During Wednesday’s edition of The Gary Harris Show, Rivals.com recruiting reporter Andrew Bone provided a glimpse into what Alabama has in store for next week’s early signing period.

According to Bone, commits such as Saivion Smith, Nadab Joseph, Jordan Davis, Skyler DeLong and Slade Bolden will sign next week and enroll in January.

Concerning Smith and Joseph, the Rivals.com recruiting reporter emphasized the importance that each prospect brings toward the immediate future of Alabama’s defense.

“Getting these guys on campus in January is huge.” Bone said. “With Alabama expected to lose its entire secondary especially with Minkah Fitzpatrick and Ronnie Harrison declare early for the NFL Draft, which many people think they will, Alabama’s going to lose its entire secondary, and they’re going to need some guys to come in and step up and play big roles next season.”

Bone also looked at Jeremy Pruitt’s transition from Alabama to Tennessee from a recruiting standpoint, the recruitment of Paul Bryant High School standout Seth Williams and some of Alabama’s top targets remaining on their radar.
