Last month, the New York Yankees made a trade that involved the return of David Robertson to “The Big Apple”.

Robertson has delivered for the Yankees with rock solid performances out of the bullpen. In 13 appearances with New York, the Tuscaloosa native has a 2-0 mark with a save, a 1.23 ERA and has struck out 21 batters compared to walking two in 14.2 innings pitched.

Robertson’s Yankees have a huge road series at the Boston Red Sox as the Red Sox hold a four game lead over the Yankees.

In the National League Central, the St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers are within 1.5 games of the division leading Chicago Cubs.

Thursday, former Alabama slugger Alex Avila had one of his best days from the plate in a Cubs uniform. He went 2-4 with a home run and three RBIs in a 13-10 loss to the Cincinnati Reds.

Find out how some of Alabama’s other former stars have been faring around Major League Baseball this week.
