Could it be true? Could our quick trips to the state line possibly come to an end? That just may be the case as Gov. Bentley has called a special session to consider a proposal for a statewide lottery.

According to AL.com, the lottery would be used to fund state services. Sounds like a reasonable solution since those who play the lottery are going to play it whether it's offered within the state or not, AND as of late, too much time in our legislative sessions are being spent trying to find ways to balance state budgets.

There's a possibility we could vote on the measure this November, but in order for this to happen, the Legislature would have to approve the measure by August 24. As of now, there is no date announced for the special session. However, it is expected to be announced later this week.
