The University of Alabama football team held its second scrimmage of the spring Saturday afternoon inside Bryant-Denny Stadium.

“One of the things I wanted to share with the players after practice was something Tony Dungy said,” Alabama head coach Nick Saban opened with in reference to Dungy’s speech at the coaches’ clinic yesterday. “He said he learned from Chuck Noll that champions don’t have to do extraordinary things. They just have to do ordinary things extraordinarily. I think that really speaks a lot about the scrimmage we had today and the spring practices as a whole.”

Robert Foster led the Crimson Tide offensive attack with four catches for 106 and two touchdowns, highlighted by a 50-yard touchdown grab. Calvin Ridley caught three passes for 62 yards while ArDarius Stewart added five catches for 60 yards.

On the ground, Bo Scarbrough led the running backs with 111 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries while Damien Harris gained 56 yards rushing on eight carries.

Reuben Foster led the way defensively with nine tackles, including a tackle for loss and forced fumble. Ryan Anderson added seven stops with two tackles for loss and a sack, while Rashaan Evans also notched seven tackles and a sack. Minkah Fitzpatrick recorded five tackles and a 43-yard interception return for a touchdown.

“I think the ones on both sides of the ball played well,” added Saban. “Obviously they can do better things. We’ve got plenty to improve on, but there was better continuity and a lot of improvement. There were plays made by both sides. There was a lot better consistency and a lot better performance on both sides. Past that, I think we have a lot of guys that need to learn how to play winning football, which is really taking care of the ordinary things well.”

Alabama’s 2016 Golden Flake A-Day Game is scheduled for Saturday, April 16, at 2 p.m. (CT) inside Bryant-Denny Stadium. The A-Day Game is once again free to the public and will be broadcast on ESPN with Kirk Herbstreit, Joe Tessitore and Joey Galloway calling the action.
