Charles Barkley Describes His Talk with the Alabama Football Team [Audio]

As the offseason comes to a conclusion, fans and media alike turn their attention to the 2017 college football season.

During his tenure as head coach at Alabama, Nick Saban has utilized various speakers to communicate lessons about issues on and off the field.

Approximately two weeks ago, former NBA and Auburn basketball star Charles Barkley stopped by the campus of the University of Alabama to speak to the Crimson Tide football team.

On Wednesday’s episode of Inside the Locker Room, the former NBA star touched on a number of issues relating to college basketball, the NBA, college football and life for today’s athletes including a piece of advice he shares to college athletes about being aware of their surroundings.

“When I speak to these young men, I tell them just be careful. Be careful who you’re hanging around, where you’re going and different things at night.” Barkley said. “You really have to be careful because there’s people out there that’s jealous of you and want to take advantage of you and do bad stuff to you so be careful when you’re out there.”

Later in his conversation with Wimp and Barry Sanderson, the former Auburn basketball analyzed Nick Saban’s impact on college football as well as how hard it is to win consistently.

“Winning is the hardest thing to do in sports number one, but to win consistently is even harder because when you have that mark on your back, that X on your back, when everyone wants to beat you, every time you play a game, it’s that other team’s biggest game of the year. That is hard to do.”  Barkley said.
