The third annual Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah 5K takes place this Saturday in Downtown Tuscaloosa with hopes of building on a successful first two years of the event.

The run benefits The Thomas Plott Foundation, which helps raise money to support the research of Cystic Fibrosis. The foundation has partnered with Alabama strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran and his wife Cissy to create this event for 8-year-old Thomas Plott, who is fighting the deadly disease.

"The last two years have been a great success," Cissy Cochran said. "We're expecting the same turnout this summer."

Scott Cochran will be the honorary race starter on Saturday at Government Plaza and might even be seen on the course pushing runners with his trademark enthusiasm.

"I think he obviously loves the university, loves what he does, and I think it's just been a fun way for us to give back to the community."

The race will be held at 8am with signup beginning at 7am. Registration for the 5K run is $30 while registration for a Fun Run for kids will be $20. More information can be found on the event's Facebook page.
