College Football Teams on Upset Alert in Week 7

Baylor has set the standard for high scoring offenses here in the last few seasons. But last Saturday, the Bears only scored seven points in the first half against Texas. They will face similar struggles this weekend if they cannot figure out how to move the ball on a tough TCU defense. One positive moving forward is Baylor currently has the best defense in the Big 12.

It's one thing to beat a top 5 team in one week, but can the Horned Frogs do it in consecutive weeks? TCU is currently moving the ball well behind dual-threat quarterback Trevone Boykin. Limiting Bryce Petty's numbers will be a challenge. Last week, TCU allowed Trevor Knight to throw for 304 yards on just 14 completions. If they want to win, that cannot happen this Saturday.

It is rare to see a top 10 matchup turn into an upset alert special. Apparently a win over Oklahoma was not enough to show that TCU is the real deal. Baylor better be ready for this one.

Oklahoma was in great position to make a playoff run but last week's loss to TCU eliminates any margin for error moving forward. Quarterback Trevor Knight only completed 40% of his passes last week, and that has to improve if they want to avoid another upset. While the passing game is a key, Oklahoma's defense needs to tighten up after allowing 469 yards last week.

Charlie Strong is doing everything he can to get Texas back onto a wining path. The problem is that involves a lot of dismissals and suspensions. The Longhorns showed some progress by keeping it close against Baylor last Saturday. If Texas wants to beat its rival, it has to score and score often. This may be hard to do with an offense ranked near the bottom of the Big 12, but expect the unexpected in this game.

The Red River Rivalry has a history of coming down to the wire. Oklahoma is the clear favorite against Texas, but they were also favorites last season before the Longhorns won 36-20.

Clemson has really started to take form after a rough start. Most of the improvement can be credited to freshman dual-threat quarterback Deshaun Watson. His success is one of the reasons why the Tigers have the best total offense in the country. But how will this freshman matchup against the best defense in the ACC?

Louisville has enjoyed a quick start to its inaugural ACC season. The Cardinals are 5-1 with a two-point loss to Virginia being the only blemish. Now they have an opportunity to make a big splash by beating a very good team on the road. The problem is the Cardinals have the defense to do it but can the offense keep up. If they can stay two-dimensional and sustain drives, then watch out for win number six.
