As Alabama football nears the halfway point of the 2017 football season, a group of young ladies on the University of Alabama campus take their first step in the journey that is the 2018 season.

Patrick Murphy’s Alabama Crimson Tide softball squad started fall practice Tuesday in preparation for the upcoming season.

Experience will be a key factor for Alabama’s run in 2018 with six seniors leading the way along with five juniors and a sophomore class that saw considerable playing time in 2017.

One of the six senior on the roster is Demi Turner. The senior from Huntsville, Texas, is expected to be one of the primary leaders for the upcoming season.

Prior to the first fall practice of the season, Turner spoke to reporters about getting fall practice started.

“I’m just ready to get this year started. I just can’t wait to see what this team has in store.” Turner said.

Coming into the 2018 season, Patrick Murphy will have another sizeable freshman class with five newcomers on the roster. As a senior leader on the team, Demi Turner offered some advice to the freshman on life as a collegiate softball player.

“Just take one day at a time and aborsb every single thing that is brought your way, not only that but just have fun and take the opportunity to get to know your teammates and love them..” Turner said.

The Crimson Tide’s 2017 season fell one game shy of a possible fourth consecutive trip to Oklahoma City as Florida knocked off Alabama in the NCAA Super Regional round. Turner spoke of the mentality that she is looking to see in this year’s team.

“From the stuff that happened last year, we didn’t make it as far as we wanted to, and I want to make sure that everyone on this team is playing with a chip on their shoulder because this team can go a long ways.” Turner stated.

Alabama softball plays their first doubleheader of the fall October 13 against Mobile College.
