College Gameday is heading to Tuscaloosa this weekend, and Desmond Howard, one of their esteemed college football analysts, joined Ryan Fowler inside The Game to talk some college football and try to explain how Alabama has been as good as they have been this season.

It's pretty clear now through seven weeks of the college football season that Alabama is the team to beat in 2016. On Sunday, they received 60 of the 61 first place votes in the AP Poll. They also received 61 of the 63 first place votes in the Coaches' Poll. It's nearly unanimous that Alabama is the best team in the country right now. Howard has the exact same opinion.

"At this point, they're playing the best football right now that we've seen. They've had their moments of struggle, obviously the Ole Miss game was a heck of a game... but they still prevailed... so right now the defense is playing probably like the '96 Packers at this point."

When success becomes commonplace, it's only human to become complacent, and Alabama head coach Nick Saban has preached this since winning his first national championship in Tuscaloosa in the 2009 season. Howard also thinks that this mindset has helped moved this Alabama program into the dynasty that we're witnessing today.

"When you've been in this position before like Nick Saban, then you know that you still gotta proceed with caution, you can't get too optimistic, you can't get over-confident, and that's the good thing about having a guy like Nick Saban as your leader, as your head coach, because he's been in this situation before. He knows how to navigate through all the things that could bring a team like Alabama down."

You can hear the conversation in its entirety below, and be sure to catch The Game each weekday from 2-6 PM.
