Elisha Shaw was a stand-out defensive lineman in high school, but a devastating neck injury that he suffered just before his senior year has prevented him from playing football again. This injury, however, hasn't stopped Coach Nick Saban from giving Shaw his well deserved scholarship, which was offered to him before the injury.

"Everybody thinks he's (Saban) a hard-nose, but he seemed cool to me... he told me what I needed to do to be successful at Alabama."

Shaw was a dominant force on the football field during his junior year of high school before his injury, registering 28 total tackles and 6 sacks.

His injury, although very serious and some doctors said he could have been paralyzed or killed if he were to take a typical football collision, has not kept him from trying to get back in the game.

"I feel like there's still hope. I'm going to do whatever I can do (to get back on the field)."
