Former five-star quarterback Blake Barnett has found a new school after transferring out of Alabama earlier this season.

The redshirt freshman will head back west and compete in the Pac-12 for Arizona State next year. Barnett, who is originally from California, surprised his new head coach on his birthday by revealing the news on a cake.

Per NCAA rules, Barnett has to sit out a full year after transferring out of Alabama, but he left in September of this year so he should be eligible to compete for the Sun Devils one month into the 2017 season.

As the nation's second-ranked pro passer coming out of high school, Barnett picked Alabama and took a redshirt his freshman season as he learned the system and added weight. He started the first game of the season against USC but lost the job to true freshman Jalen Hurts, who has now led the Crimson Tide to a 13-0 record.

Barnett will have three years to play three at Arizona State.
