After two years dealing with injuries, former Alabama safety Vinnie Sunseri was released by the Saints on Monday.

The former fifth round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft missed all of the 2015 season after suffering a knee injury in the preseason. His rookie year was cut short by broken arm nine games into the 2014 season.

The release leaves the Saints with just one player from the 2014 draft class: wide receiver Brandin Cooks.

Sunseri played three seasons for the Crimson Tide before turning pro following his junior season. That year also ended prematurely due to injury after Sunseri tore his ACL in an October game against Arkansas. His rehab progressed quickly enough for him to impress the Saints in workouts prior to the draft.

The Crimson Tide had a total of eight players drafted in 2014, which marked the third straight year with at least that many.
