It's his first season at The Capstone, and Avery Johnson has the Crimson Tide in NCAA Tournament discussions, especially after their big win over the LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge, 76-69. With a 16-9 overall record currently, this team has out-performed most pundits' expectations for them, and it's in most part due to the coaching from the Little General.

The Tide started the season off in spectacular fashion, going 10-3 (9-3 if you don't count the exhibition against Trevecca Nazarene) in non-conference play, defeating teams like Wichita State, Notre Dame, and a solid Clemson squad. In SEC play, they haven't been "elite" (going 6-6 so far in conference), but with only one bad loss on the season (Auburn), this Alabama team has aspirations of getting into the NCAA Tournament.

What grade would you give Coach Johnson's coaching job this season? It's commonplace to ignore a coach's first season, but with the number of big wins this season for Alabama, it's difficult to ignore the progress that's been made.
