Wednesday marked the last media appearance for Nick Saban before the Texas A&M game and he kept it pretty brief.

The head coach began the press conference by stressing the weekly message of doing the little things correctly.

"I think it's really important for our players to really stay focused on what we need to do as a team to get better. Pay attention to detail. Do the little things right. I think those things obviously become more important when you play a good opponent, which we're certainly going to be challenged with this weekend."

Not everything was about his team, however. Saban also called on the fans to make Saturday's game one with the atmosphere you'd expect for the nation's No. 1 team.

"Hopefully we'll have a big game atmosphere in Bryant-Denny Stadium where the fans are into it and really help our team keep the emotional level in a difficult game where it needs to be so that we can continue to persevere...

"We need to make our stadium an advantage for us this weekend and I really hope our fans respond to that."

Here's what else Saban talked about on Wednesday:

  • The balanced distribution at running back and what he wants his players to be focused on.
  • Has Saban and his staff changed they way they evaluate offensive line recruits based on the changes in offensive philosphy.
  • How they've been able to get Irv Smith Jr. involved in the offense.
  • What Jeff Banks has meant to the team and why Saban brought him onto the staff.
