Fireworks, barbecues, hot dogs, apple pies and American flags.  The 4th of July is just one week away and folks are making their plans for the holiday. But just how patriotic is Alabama compared to other states in 2018?

WalletHub is out with their annual rankings of how patriotic each state is, and we're right in the middle at #26.  But that is ahead of Louisiana and Tennessee, but behind Georgia and Mississippi.
So just how did they come up with these rankings? Well, the survey looked at several different areas of civic engagement, including "share of enlisted military population to share of adults who voted in the 2016 presidential election to AmeriCorps volunteers per capita."  Alabama was #10 in Military Engagement, but #44 in Civic Engagement.

So which state is the most patriotic? That’d be Virginia, who comes in at No. 1 - the same as last year. The least patriotic state? That'd be Massachusetts-- which marks their first time on the bottom.
