Mark your calendar for Saturday, February 13th, and join us for the 2016 West Alabama Heart Walk!  It starts at Tuscaloosa Amphitheater and goes along the Riverwalk on the Black Warrior River.

How fitting, an event on heart health is taking place during Valentine's Day weekend. Organizers from the American Heart Association estimate nearly 2,000 will participate in this year's family friendly walk geared towards fundraising, creating awareness and healthy exercise with others.  If you'd like, bring your dog!

The length of the walk (or run) is 5K (3.1 miles), with the course being along Tuscaloosa's scenic River Walk.

It's free to attend, however participants are encouraged to get sponsors for their walk to fight heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases!  Walkers are eligible for a Heart Walk t-shirt once they have raised a minimum of $100.

The lofty overall fundraising goal is $200,000! At the time of this writing, nearly half of the goal is already being reported. That's great! But, there is still a long way to go!
