Jay Bilas Surveys the College Basketball Landscape

The madness of March is here as conference tournaments take place all across the country including the start of the SEC Tournament today in St. Louis.

While observers are fixated on bubble teams, potential national title contenders and Cinderellas from smaller conferences, respected ESPN college basketball analyst took some time to look at the broader landscape of college basketball with Wimp and Barry Sanderson Inside the Locker Room.

During the conversation, Bilas touched on the impact of the one-and-done on college basketball, the changing dynamics involved in the sport since the time that he was a star player at Duke in the 1980s.

Earlier in the week, Memphis head coach Tubby Smith commented on what he believes is the negative impact of transfers on college basketball.

Bilas reacted to Smith's thoughts as well as offering a solution to the issue.

“If Division I would be reduced to 100 teams, like it is in football, then every good player would want to play at the highest level so we would have better talent that’s spread out over fewer units.” Bilas said.
