Recruiting is often referred to as the life blood of a college athletics program.

Just as recruiting great players is important for college coaches, developing high school players in their sport and in life is a critical task for high school coaches.

One of Alabama’s most respected high school basketball coaches Jack Doss gave his perspective on a long coaching career on Inside the Locker Room.

Doss has nine state championships and has coached star players like Buck Johnson, Trevor Lacey and current Alabama Mr. Basketball John Petty in a coaching career spanning over three decades.

Doss discussed the challenges in dealing with college coaching during the recruiting process, developing great high school basketball players, the changes in high school coaching over his career and the process in developing John Petty into one of the top basketball recruits in the country.

Inside the Locker Room airs each weekday from 7-9 AM on Tide 99.1 and the radioPup app.
