It's taken 28 years, but Mississippi's Holmes Community College is going to a bowl game.

The No. 9 Bulldogs (6-3) meet Iowa Western (6-5) in the Graphic Edge Bowl on Dec. 4 in the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Kickoff is at 3 p.m.

Receiver D.J. Montgomery leads the nation in yards per catch (27.1) and has 29 receptions for 786 yards and eight touchdowns this season. Holmes is ranked second in rushing yards, averaging 316.4 yards per game.

The Clarion-Ledger reports Holmes is one of three Mississippi JUCOs to earn a bowl berth, along with No. 5 Northwest (Heart of Texas Bowl against No. 4 Trinity Valley) and No. 3 East Mississippi (Mississippi Bowl against No. 13 Kilgore). EMCC defeated Northwest for the MACJC championship Saturday.
