In a few ways, Alabama and "Star Wars" are quite similar.

Both have reached near-unprecedented heights in their fields.

Both have large, boisterous fan bases.

And both only recently had a renaissance of sorts.

So it only makes sense then that a YouTube user, presumably a fan of both the college football team and movie franchise, creates a video putting the two together, right?

Nearly a week before Alabama plays Clemson in the College Football Playoff National Championship, YouTuber Dalton Whitaker uploaded this hype video Tuesday, mashing together highlights from the Crimson Tide’s 2015 season with the latest “Star Wars” movie trailer audio playing in the background.

Given all that’s known about the two, it’s not surprising that they work well together.

The video, which is spoiler free for those who haven’t made it out to see “The Force Awakens” yet, features Heisman Trophy winner Derrick Henry prominently, as well as notable plays made by more than a dozen other Alabama players this season.

Of course, it shows Alabama coach Nick Saban, too, as well as a quick flashback to legendary Tide coach Paul “Bear” Bryant.

“Nothing will stand in our way,” the voice (whose name I will withhold for those who haven’t seen the movie) says at the 0:45 mark in the video, as the screen jumps from Saban to Bryant. “I will finish what you started.”

After a 17-year period between national championships marred by mostly inconsistent play, Alabama won its 13th claimed national title in 2009 and has won an additional two more since. Overall, Monday night’s game against the Tigers marks its fourth national title appearance in seven seasons.

On the other hand, “Star Wars” began its much-maligned prequel trilogy in 1999 after a 16-year absence but has thus far had better success with “The Force Awakens,” the start of its sequel trilogy that opened last month in theaters worldwide. Billed as “Episode VII,” the film has garnered mostly positive reviews to go along with its massive success in the box office.

Alabama and Clemson will kick off at 7:30 p.m. CT on ESPN. Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit will call the game from the booth, with Heather Cox and Tom Rinaldi reporting on the sidelines.

Eli Gold and Phil Savage will have the radio call on the Crimson Tide Sports Network, with Chris Stewart on the sidelines. CTSN’s game coverage can be heard on Tide 99.1 FM and our sister station 95.3 The Bear.
