C-SPAN (Cable-Satellite Public Affairs Network) is in town over the next few days on their "Cities Tour" for special programming to bring a national spotlight on Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Tuscaloosa Mayor Walter Maddox will officially welcome C-SPAN to our area at an event scheduled at 11:30 a.m. Monday morning (March 21st) at the Jemison-Van de Graaff Mansion on Greensboro Avenue. This will serve as a "kick off" to C-SPAN's visit, as they plan to record for a feature on the city’s history and literary life.

Ashley Hill, a representative for C-SPAN commented:

Working with cable partner Comcast, the C-SPAN producing team will take specially outfitted Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) into Tuscaloosa, Alabama starting March 19th-23rd, 2016, visiting various literary and historic sites to interview local historians, authors and civic leaders over the week.

The Tuscaloosa spotlight programming recorded can be seen on C-SPAN the weekend of April 16-17, 2016 (Comcast channel 18).
