Since Nick Saban’s arrival at Alabama, the Crimson Tide has been known as a national power that consistently produces NFL caliber players.

One Crimson Tide alum that continues to leave his footprints at the next level is a former player who came to Tuscaloosa long before Saban’s tenure.

Evan Mathis played at Alabama from 2000-2004 and has played 11 seasons in the NFL.

Mathis recounted his playing days at Alabama under several head coaches, his journey around pro football and his thoughts on Alabama’s national championship run under Saban on The Gary Harris Show.

While Mathis played during a tumultuous era at Alabama, Mathis expressed his amazement at the Crimson Tide’s title run under Nick Saban.

“There’s really not words to describe how great he’s done. It’s absolutely brilliant, dynasty type material that he’s laid out at Alabama.” Mathis said.
