Phil Savage, the color commentator for Alabama football on the Crimson Tide Sports Network and the Executive Director of the Reese's Senior Bowl, joined Aaron Suttles to talk about the upcoming season for the Tide.

Another interview, another conversation in Tuscaloosa, another discussion on the quarterback situation at Alabama. Savage has been around the game of football for a while, and he, more than most, understands the challenges and hurdles of a quarterback battle. Should a team divvy up the reps between all the quarterbacks in practice in order to find a starter, or is it smart to give them all plenty of time to earn the starting spot?

"There's challenges to it because no two quarterbacks are the same. They almost have to build out, at least in subtle differences in terms of your game plan, and it's really difficult to get the number of reps you need to get a single quarterback ready, much less two."

On Thursday, Savage tweeted out that this Alabama defense could be the fastest Saban has had since moving to Tuscaloosa.

That's saying a lot, but with an increase in speed there most likely will a loss of weight, and Savage brought that up as well immediately following that.

Suttles asked him if this decrease in size could hurt them against teams that use a power running style, such as Arkansas and LSU, and Savage wasn't convinced that it would be a disadvantage for the Crimson Tide.

"I don't think it does. They still continue to recruit at least one big body, one massive individual per year on the defensive line group... They still have the best combination of bulk plus movement skills and movement ability up front. So I don't think it will be a problem there unless there were a rash of injuries."
