Although national signing days over six months away, college football coaches like Alabama’s Nick Saban maintain a keen awareness of the recruiting landscape.

On Friday’s edition of The Gary Harris Show, TideSports.com’s recruiting reporter Andrew Bone gave an overview of the Alabama Champions Cookout and some of the top recruits attending the event.

He described Alabama’s reasoning for hosting this recruiting event.

“It’s the middle of the summer. A lot of these guys are trying to hit up as many camps or visits as possible. So much is going on with practice with their teams and seven-on-seven tournaments. They’re trying to get a lot of these guys together into one spot for one event.” Bone said.

The TideSports.com recruiting reporter analyzed the diverse regions from which the cookout participants reside.

“They’re going to have guys from New York, from California, from south Florida, really from all over on campus today (Friday night).” Bone said.

Bone believes that a number of Alabama Champions Cookout attendees may wind up on Alabama’s 2017 signing class.

“A lot of these guys I think, we can expect, are going to be a part of Alabama’s class come National Signing Day.” Bone said.

Later on in the show, Bone offered a profile of a number of recruits who attended the cookout.

The Gary Harris Show airs every weekday from 9-11 AM on Tide 102.9 and the radioPup app.
