University of Alabama football coach Nick Saban will tee it up in his native state during The Greenbrier Classic's pro-am event.

A news release from The Greenbrier resort says Saban will play in the event in southern West Virginia on July 6. The event precedes PGA Tour competition at the resort that weekend.

Saban is a native of Idamay, West Virginia. He grew up 10 miles from his childhood friend, U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin.

Saban has won five national titles. Four were at Alabama. The other came while coaching Louisiana State University.

Also playing in the pro-am will be former NBA star Shaquille O'Neal, Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald and Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee.

Duck Dynasty stars Willie Robertson, Jase Robertson and Justin Martin are also participating.
