When Alabama opens fall camp on Thursday, one of the biggest storylines will be whether defensive back Maurice Smith takes the field with the rest of the team. The senior, who graduates on Saturday, expressed his intention to transfer from Tuscaloosa in the spring, but that hasn't happened just yet.

DawgNation sheds much more light on the situation in a story published on Wednesday by Seth Emerson. In it, Emerson shares details of a letter written by Smith to Alabama's appeal committee one month ago, which included this excerpt:

On Friday, June 17, I arrived at the athletic facility locker room to find my locker cleaned out and all of my personal belongings in the trash (photo attached) underneath trash.

Smith claims that the Crimson Tide "ostracized" him after the he informed them he wanted to transfer. The school that's reportedly highest on his list of destinations is Georgia, but Smith's mother says the school is blocking his move within the conference.

Emerson joined The Suttles Approach on Wednesday to shed some more light on the situation and discuss the conversations that he's personally had with Smith's mother.

Here's that entire conversation from earlier today.
