The University of Alabama enjoyed another incredible NFL Draft last weekend with 12 total players being selected across seven rounds. Among that record-setting group was linebacker Shaun Dion Hamilton, who was taken 197th overall by the Washington Redskins.

Hamilton joined Smashmouth Radio after the draft to share how it all went down. He told host Scott Griffin that current Redskin Ryan Anderson texted him leading up to the draft to be on the lookout, but as the draft went along he became more and more nervous.

"I get a phone call. I was actually watching Netflix," Hamilton said. "Coach Gruden introduced his self to me or whatever and he asked me if I was ready to be reunited with the Alabama boys. I told him I definitely am and he told me they were going to draft me. So I was pretty excited about that to be reunited with my former teammates."

The Redskins currently have six players from Alabama that will head into offseason workouts: Jonathan Allen, Ryan Anderson, Da'Ron Payne, Shaun Dion Hamilon, Arie Kouandjio, and recently signed undrafted free agent Cam Sims. It should certainly become one of the favorite NFL teams among Tide fans for the next few years.

Hamilton is working his way back from the fractured kneecap he suffered against LSU next November but he said he's getting close to being all the way back.

"I'd probably say I'm probably 85 or 90 percent. I'm cleared to do everything. I'm full speed when it comes to doing my sprints and things like that but I still lack a little bit of leg explosion."
