Eight games into the 2018 season and there's a clear front-runner for the Heisman Trophy and he resides in Tuscaloosa.

Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has exceeded nearly every expectation placed on him after his comeback in the national championship game. The sophomore leads the nation with a staggering 238.85 passer rating through eight games thanks to his 25 touchdown passes, zero interceptions, and a 70.4% completion rate.

Fans have watched Tagovailoa and the Alabama offense light up scoreboards in historic fashion despite taking most fourth quarters off. The Crimson Tide is first nationally at 54.1 points per game, which is nearly six points clear of the rest of college football. As impressive as it's been, it looks even more remarkable when you lay it out on paper.

ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit visited Tuscaloosa this week to talk with the quarterback about his incredible season and he shared this picture of the drive chart for every series Tagovailoa has led this year. The white lines are the drives that didn't go for points while the yellow lines that cover the page are touchdowns.

It's incredible to see and unprecedented to witness at Alabama, but one of the toughest tests of the season awaits. The Crimson Tide will travel to Baton Rouge to face No. 4 LSU after the bye week in a game that will likely determine the SEC West champion.
