In only its fourth year, the prestige of the Tuscaloosa Half Marathon continues a rapid rise, as evidenced by this latest honor from a well respected national running organization.

It's official, the upcoming Tuscaloosa Half Marathon on March 5th has been named the RRCA (Road Runners Club of America) Alabama Half Marathon State Championship Race for 2016!  To be awarded this opportunity, races must go through a competitive bidding process.  Once awarded, RRCA outlines guidelines for championship event standards and safety expectations for the event.

For those who may not be aware, the RRCA is the oldest and longest running organization dedicated to distance running, proclaiming on their wesbite:

The goal of the RRCA Championship Event Series is to shine a spotlight on well-run events and to award top performing runners in the open, masters (40+), grand masters (50+), and senior grand masters (60+) categories for both men and women.

Everyone who completes either the Tuscaloosa Half Marathon or the Radiology Clinic 5K Fun Run will receive a collectible finisher's medal for your accomplishment!

Plus, all participants will receive a a race bag with goodies inside of it from sponsors and the half marathon, a moisture-wicking race shirt, post race party food and beverages, in addition to Jim ‘n Nick’s BBQ and one beer per of age individual, chip timing system and results, support from law enforcement, volunteers and staff, course entertainment and a 13.1 car magnet!

On top of that, feel good for completing your challenging run and for supporting great local causes!  Over three years, the Tuscaloosa Half Marathon has raised $140,000 for ReadBAMARead, and the Kiwanis Club of Greater Tuscaloosa!  The 2016 race supports those groups and Arts 'n Austism.
