The world was shocked to learn on Thursday that a Blue Angels pilot was killed when his fighter jet crashed near Nashville.

U.S. Marine Capt. Jeff Kuss was piloting one of six F/A-18 jets practicing for the Great Tennessee Airshow when his plane number 6 suddenly crashed. No one one the ground was injured.

News and social media feeds were immediately overwhelmed with remembrances on Thursday afternoon. University of Alabama head gymnastics coach Dana Duckworth was shaken to her core as she had the chance to ride along with Capt. Kuss when he and the Blue Angels visited Tuscaloosa last March.

She said in a Facebook post,

I will forever own the memory of a lifetime flying in your F18 and because of your kindness, professionalism and technical coaching I didn't pass out and you never laughed at me when I threw up gracefully 3 times after experiencing 7G's multiple times. RIP Jeff Kuss.

I would like to thank Coach Duckworth for allowing us to share her pictures and most importantly, that moment that she enjoyed so much.
