While Alabama baseball coach Greg Goff’s settles in as Alabama’s new baseball coach, his journey as an NCAA Division I coach began almost a decade ago at Campbell University in North Carolina.

Current University of West Alabama AD Stan Williamson appeared on The Gary Harris Show Wednesday to reflect on his relationship with Greg Goff and the reasons for giving Goff his first head coaching job at the Division I level.

Williamson described the factors that led him to hire Goff as Campbell’s head baseball coach in 2007.

“The question was, as a younger person, was he ready to be a head coach and what could he achieve, but, it became very clear his passion for the game and his intensity for the game were special.” Williamson said.

The former Campbell athletic director later detailed how Goff’s personality transforms on game day and the process of hiring a head coach as an administrator.

The Gary Harris Show airs every weekday from 9-11 AM on Tide 99.1 and the radioPup app.
