Raise your hand if you thought an Alabama tight end would be the second-leading receiver on the team at the midway point of the season.

Yeah, me neither.

Alabama junior Irv Smith Jr. is enjoying a fast start to the season which was capped off by a 123-yard performance against Arkansas on Saturday. Smith only made two catches in the 65-31 win but the first went for a 76 yards for a touchdown. The second catch went for nearly 50 yards before Smith fumbled and it was recovered by Henry Ruggs III in the endzone for a score.

For the season, the tight end has 16 receptions for 332 yards and three touchdowns, which matches or equals each of those stats from a season ago.

On Tuesday, Smith had a chance to answer some questions about the big day in Fayetteville during a media appearance before practice. Check out what he had to say by watching the video at the top of the page.

Alabama is preparing to take on Missouri for homecoming this Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
